  1. both are stupid...

but glasses are required for a reason...

I hit a praying mantis on the highway the other day....(yes! a freaking praying mantis!)

If I hadn't been wearing my full face, that would have hurt!

(it made a loud "BONG" noise when it hit and splattered on my face sheild)

If I hadn't been wearing at least glasses I'd be blind...and possibly dead

  2. glasses... i was running to the store speed limit and this guy in a pickup passed me and his truck flung a rock right into the left lens of my sunglasses....

i have both a modular and a half helmet but only use the modular full face on longer trips

  3. All of the above!  Riding without gear shows how much value is placed on your survival.

Riding with only a helmet says, "I want to be fully conscious of my skin ripping off of my rag-doll body WHEN I crash!"

Shorts say, "WHEN I crash, I want to be paralyzed/amputated from the waist down and have to pee in a bag for the rest of my life!"

Wearing only a jacket says, "I like the taste of bugs!  And that's OK because my hands will be ground to stumps WHEN I crash!"

I, for one, plan on walking away from my future crash just like I did my first one.  I am under no impression that I am invincible, nor am I the perfect rider.  I WILL go down again sometime in my life, and I will be ready for it.

    How about you all?

  4. No eye protection -

Riding in shorts is dumb, but in HOT states (Arizona) it is common to see riders in shorts (not me).  Hard to replace a eye lost to a bug or road debris.

Edit:  Magz - how long did it take for you to clean that praying mantis off?

  5. They usually go hand in hand, but you forgot the muscle shirt

  6. Definitely those without the full-face. first, puts huge strain/risk on your eyes, and 60% of head impacts in crashes occur on your face/chin. Those half-helmets are retarded.

Shorts kinda look dumb, but will do no less to protect your leg skin than pants or jeans in a wreck. The only thing that will prevent road rash is leather or armor.

  7. why do you care what others  look like?

i drove for years without  goggles, , or visor & a time without a helmet my choise,

now  let me  say this about shorts & t shirts on  motorcycles its the riders  choise, if they  dont know what gravel rash is like they have a good chance of finding out, if they have had gravel rash they know what to expect, so let them get on with it

as for how i  look on a motorcycle  or how other bikers look  on motorcycles  as a  BIKER  i dont give a toss,

  8. The no eye protection looks dumber.  Too easy to get temporarily blinded and wreck.

  9. Lots of times I wear both but I always wear eye protection. I have had lasik surgery on my eyes and they can bring the short distance one in for far distance but not the other way. I hit a dragon fly the other day with a full face helmet and shades. I had the shield up and was going around 20mph. It hit the left lens on my glasses. On the highway or up to speeds I always wear protection. Many times I make the short hop home from work in shorts because it is 95 degrees out there and I have to travel through town at 30mph for about four miles in stop and go. Just doesn't make sense to strap on leather. Yes, I have had a SEVERE case of rash but I also know a piece of gravel ain't gonna knock my leg or arm off but it will take an eye in an instant. I don't want either but I'd rather have scars than be blind. I have scars anyway.

  10. ..Both..I always wear a helmet and tough outer wear..(no shorts)..Yukie!.. smoking while riding??...<< not smart...smart>>Any helmet that protect the head even if it's a pot...I use a full n face shield type for protection..goggles n helment r ok 2..take it from experience, if I hadn't been wearing a helmet i wouldn't be typing this..those 4 wheelers r crazy!!..hehe..Even on my three wheeler I use the HELMET...Yep, no helmet for the leg...lets go riding!..

  11. Both are dumb. What i think looks dumbest though, is a guy wearing a high dollar full face helmet with a tank top, shorts and flip flops
