I'm going to just answer the second part of your questions, because that is really what is relevant.  If you intend to make money with your business, then get a tax ID.  Separate your business and personal expenses as well as incomes.  

If you're really serious about this and expect to make money, why not form an LLC and get all the advantages?  The time to form an LLC or corporation is BEFORE you need it, because it is to your advantage for your business to be "seasoned" if you later are looking to expand.  There is way too much information to go into here, but I hope this gets you started with ideas.
