  1. I was just there one month ago. Socially, everyone seemed to be living their daily lives and I didn't feel the threat of any danger. I also didn't hear a thing about nuclear weapons while there. The only thing I felt uncomfortable with was wearing the hijab. At least it was winter and it was cold...I had to cover my head to keep it warm anyway..lol :)

  2. omg. ok i am up for it. i am doing research for my world cultures project. i chose iran. so ill talk and monitor stuff abou tthis.

this things i know is tht. While the UN's "Perm Five" meet - as usual to no effect - to talk about Iran's nuclear program the people of Iran are reacting strongly to continued oppression. Over the past few days there have been repeated but unconfirmed reports such as  this one from Radio Free Europe/Radio Liberty that supporters of a non-political ayatollah are rioting against his re-arrest.

Ayatollah Kazemeyni Boroujerdi has reportedly rejected politicization of Islam and condemned the Tehran regime for it. If these reports are correct, this is an important split among the Shia of Iran. It is precisely this kind of fissure we should support and seek to widen. If the reports aren't correct, they still show one of the paths to destabilizing Tehran. Even if Boroujerdi is a fiction, there may be others like he is portrayed to be. If he is real, he is a hero of Iran and someone we should be trying to support overtly or covertly or both.

  3. Yes, but if all you have for reference is the American mainstream media then you have no real information about Iran and therefore cannot talk about it intelligently.
