Any body out there who could tell me how to tune in my univeral remote?

I have a Emerson tv with VCR built in .The remote quit working so i bought a Univeral that was suppose to be programmed in. But my son, husband and my self tried but it doesnt work. We went through all the numbers but still nothin. Maybe i should of bought one more expensive this one was 9 bucks plus tax. Just wonder if someone might tell me what to do. Its just a small tv.

Are sure you are programming it correctly?  Test it on another tv or vcr/dvd player. Check with the remote makers website, they may have some suggestions.

Those things are evil!

I've never been able to get one to work.  Supposedly, they only work on TVs that are only a few years old.
