My lung collapsed over 5 years ago because of spontaneous pneumothorax. One of the best surgeons in the field fixed the problem. Would I be allowed to (scuba) dive with a note from the surgeon?

  1. Not a good idea I'm afraid.

DAN (the Diver's Alert Network) has an article published on this subject here: http://www.diversalertnetwork.org/medica...

Scroll down to the bottom of that page.

  2. I've had a spontaneous pneumo and i've been to 5 lung doctors and every single one said that I can do ANYTHING but scuba dive, all of them said thats basically suicide and they were completely serious.

I really really wouldnt recommend it cause if something goes wrong under water, you drown.

  3. I personaly would not reccomend it, but you should talk with your surgeon.

  4. My dog had that last summer.

You should be allowed if you get a note from a surgeon - its the getting the note from the surgeon that might prove difficult
