Question:

Any chance the new marijuana reform will pass?

There has been a new bill presented to the House of Representatives suggesting the legalization of possession of marijuana for responsible adults. Basically, as long as you are in a responsible environment (at home, not bothering anyone) you can legally possess up to 3 3/4 oz of marijuana While I am REALLY hoping it passes, I believe that there are too many rich people out there who are making money from the criminalization of marijuana who bribe the law makers (pharmaceutical companies and private prison investors). So I seriously doubt that it will pass. Any other thoughts out there?

  1. There is little chance of that happening because there isn't any money to be made by the US government. It is easily grown so they can't tax it and pharmaceutical companies won't pay for the testing of it for the same reason. People won't pay the high prices the government taxes or the pharmaceutical companies would have to charge.

    It is just common sense.

  2. I think it would be a great economic stimulus, if it's done right.

If companies charge too much, people will go to drug dealers like they always have.  It taxes on it are too high, people will go to the streets like they always have.

Will it pass?  Probably not.  I don't think enough Congress people are willing to say they support a bill such as this.

  3. NO it will not pass .

  4. Introduced in April, HR 5843 hasn't moved an inch since.  It will die in committee.

It would allow possession of 100 grams, which is a little over 3.5 ounces, not 3 3/4, but does not change any federal or state law regarding growing and trafficking.

Since you cannot grow a decent pot plant in your yard that will be less than 100 grams and it will still be illegal to sell it to you, this bill is just a bunch of grandstanding by Barney Franks and Ron Paul.

    Don't get your hopes up.

  5. the bill is being co-sponsored by frank of massachusetts and ron paul from texas

though the bill has been implemented in many other countries, it stands little chance of being passed in the u.s.

there are not nearly enough liberals in congress at the moment for the bill to stand a chance, since the democrats majority is dependent on joe lieberman, and he might as well be a republican

though this is bound to fail now, it may pass if the democrats get a much larger majority during the next congressional elections

also, it may be implemented on a smaller scale.  for example, new york city has made possession of a variety of drugs under 100 grams a misdemeanor rather than a felony, so all you can get is a fine

  6. Man, I hope so, I eat the Sh-t.

  7. LESS than ZERO CHANCE

    Pot ruins lifes and families.
