  1. R7 better than S9. S9s are for higher handicappers and look nice, but performance is lacking. If you want to look at another set of Cobras, check out the CB Carbon line. I think there are two different styles, so check those out. I recently tested tons of sets...like the r7s, but CBs are better. I also like most of Titleist's stuff. They are solid and have many choices as far as cavity, blades, shaft technology, etc. I think they make one called the 755s. New in late 06, early 07. They were second to the CBs from Cobra in my book. Golf Magazine agreed....

  2. R7s are considered Game Improvement Irons and S9 a Super Game Improvement Iron. Obviously, if you're looking at both, you are a higher handicapper and all us higher handicappers need more help and that is in forgiveness and a better feel at address.

I tested both clubs when getting into golf a year ago. I went from Callaway X20 to the R7 and fell in love with the Cobra S9 set.

Very easy to hit. You'll probably give up about 5-10 yards with this clubs but they fly straight and are great irons.

I just traded them in a month ago for the Cobra Carbon CB irons and can't go back to game improvement irons. I love the Carbon and maybe will look into some Forged clubs soon.

I wanted to start to work the ball more and with the Carbon CB I'm able to fade and draw balls fairly well. When I tried it with the S9 they were too forgiving that fading and drawing were merely mishits that on a fade, would fly straight and higher, and a draw would fly straight but lower. You'd have to be a very good player to work the balls with these clubs but if straight is what you want, straight is what you'll get.

The Cobra Carbon CB are more for improving player (I'm like a 16 handicapper and improving), and boy do they fly further, higher when I want and lower when I want as well. Slight fades to power fades as well as draws are more part of my game more than ever!

But... if I were to do it again, the S9 are great for higher handicappers wanting to improve. Hit it on the sweet spot, fly em straight and far, and eventually you'll want player irons to work the ball!

  3. The R7's are sick, get the TP version if your a good player.

  4. not the best but not the worst either
