  1. I dont know other than my cheif pilot used to fly a DC-9 and I asked him if joe blow private pilot hooped in there could he land it? He said that most would probaly stall it when they put in full flaps, so if your flying the corect profile when you select full flaps be sure to bring up the power alot like to 60-70%. Thats the most interesting thing he told me.

  2. Computer-based simulators don't really give you a very realistic impression of what flying a real airplane is like.  It's fun to play with, but you won't learn much if anything about flying.

If you are age 16 or older, find the nearest airport that has a flight school, and go talk to flight instructors and get some introductory flight time.  That will enable you to judge the difference between the simulator and the airplane with proper respect for the difference.

Also, you will begin to get an idea of what you must learn and do to prepare for your career.

    Good luck!

  3. I guess you would get better help in the "Games" section. Now that u have asked, it would be better if you could tell the nature of the failure. Is it positioning or control problems that you are facing?

Try using the "Visual Flight Path" option. That should help you in the approach. You will need to control speed by using pitch, throttle and flap as appropriate. Happy landings.

  4. Actually, Embry Riddle did a test with some new flight students.  Half of them practiced on the computer based flight sim, and the other half didn't.  The ones that used the sim had less trouble in their training, and did better on all their tests.  It's true that the computer based sim isn't like the real aircraft, but it's a computer, just like the simulators that airline pilots use to train and stay current.  You can also learn the basics of aircraft control, instrument procedures and scanning techniques.

As far as how to use the game, try the computer section on Yahoo Answers.

  5. Start out flying something a little smaller, slower, and less complex.  Use the cessna 172 and practice aiming for the numbers on the runway and adjusting your throttle to maintain 65 knots.  Then, once you get that down, try the 737.  The 737 is very sluggish and and slow to respond compared to a cessna so you must master the cessna first if you dont want to hear your virtual passengers screaming behind you.

  6. line up your approch lower your flaps to reduce speed, kick the gear down and as you approch the target put the throttle to idle and glide in,,, stay above 145,and you wont have to even use your thrust reveres f2... just use the brakes,,

  7. Don't know. I fly real jets. So many video game questions here.

  8. I have many pilot friends that told me they couldn't figure out that game too!!! LOL
