Any decent advice onhow to successfully make a living on Ebay?

I'm thinking of trying to make a living selling on Ebay like I see so many doing. Any good advice, or perhaps links to good free websites offering any such advice?

better not quit your day job.

takes along time to drum up that kind of business, and you end up busier than a one armed paperhanger.

customer service will be NUMBER ONE. a couple of unhappy buyers can kill you.

make no promises you can't keep

describe everthing accurately with decent photos

if there are flaws, describe them

never accept cash or checks. i won't take money orders either. not enough paper trail.

one thing to remember is postage. keep it to a minimum and if trading by post try and trade in things that weigh little

For a couple of years i consistently make around £300 a week selling S/H Laptops - the the coming of the 300 quid Laptop killed it within months.

You need something with a decent margin - selling 5 quid items with a quid a time profit is hard yakker.

I know a really great website with loads of info on eBay selling - just go to the link below, scroll down that page and click on "Products to sell on eBay".

A few quick ideas:

* You can buy items in off-line shops when they're on heave discounts and sell on eBay

* You can get into selling digital products (check out the second link below)

* You can find a product that is light (good for saving on delivery), has a good profit margin (supplies for different niches - like party supplies etc) on websites which ship from China. Just don't fall into trap of buying branded electronics - you can easily get scammed!

Sell what people want at a good price. Only way to make a living off ebay really. Just make sure whatever you sell will almost certainly make more money than what it costs you.
