  1. The best and cheapest way to get what you want  is to use the french equivalent of Travelodge, that is either the Ibis or Campanile chains. They are nearly always situated near to main roads and are very good value for money. With your twins you could all sleep in the one room which, depending on the site and date, will cost you between £50 and £60. Look at the website of Accor who own  several chains of hotels from dead cheap (Formule 1) to quite expensive (Mercure, etc.)  Campanile do not belong to Accor and are not, in my opinion, as good as Ibis. There are Ibis hotels in Britain (including 2 in Birmingham). Get their telephone number and ask them for their hotels guide. You will soon find one to suit you.

  2. This motel has a few rooms with either 1 double bed + 2 single beds or 4 single beds, for 55 €/night (price depends on dates but they are always cheap).

B&B is one of the best cheap motel chains in France. I have stayed in them several times. Very clean, perfect for a stopover when taking a long road trip. Book early because they don't have many rooms for 4.
