There are plenty of cheap hotels in Malaga off season.  During the summer and early fall the prices are rather expensive.  Working in Spain depends a great deal on your country of citizenship.  It is much easier for a citizen of the European Union to work in Spain than it is for an American.  Most opportunities for Americans are related to university exchange/internship programs.
