Any difference between the Shimano PD-R540 SPD-SL Road Pedal and Shimano PD-R540 Road Bicycle Pedal Set?

I've searched and both seems the same to me, maybe you can tell me the difference

  1. Look at the Shimano code - They're exactly the same.

    It's not the pedal that makes the difference, it's the shoe.

    As far as "it's not the pedal, it's the shoes" -- I agree to a point.  I use the Ultegra SL pedals (PD6600) because the 105's weren't as smooth.  In regards to shoes, buy the stiffest soled shoe you can afford.  The stiffer the sole, the more power is transferred with each stroke.  The stiffer the sole the more comfort to the rider.  The R075 is a stiff sole, but the R099 is stiffer and lighter, with a carbon sole.
