I am having my best girlfriend and her boyrfriend over for dinner tomorrow night to celebrate our new home. What can I make them for dinner? (no fish please)

I was thinking an appetizer, a salad and main dish, and maybe a dessert.

Thanks in advance!

  1. That's a really nice gesture.  I like this "Mediterranean" meal because there are a lot of veggies anyway and it's quick/easy but looks really nice

    Appetizer:  Olives and cheese

Salad:  "Greek" salad--cut up tomatoes, cucumbers and a little red onion.  Add some crumbled feta cheese and some olives and a drizzle of olive oil

Main dish: falafel patties (you can buy the mix and then fry or broil them) served with humus and pita and couscous (also in a box, takes 5 minutes to make).

Dessert: Vanilla ice cream and fresh strawberries.  Yum.

  2. - Appetizers = Cruditee

    - Salad = Salad Nicoise

    - Main Dish = Brick Chicken (grilled or baked in the over) - You basically flatten out the chicken and grill it (flipping it once) on the grill for 45-60 minutes

    - Side Dish = Wild Rice & Steamed Asparagus

    - Dessert = Fruit Salad with mango, melons, berries, and a squeeze of lemon/lime juice to make sure nothing oxidizes!

    *** ENJOY! ***

  3. Appetizer:Garlic Bread (homemade)

    Salad: Garden w/gorgonzola cheese crumbles

    Main Dish: Lasagna

Dessert: Brownie Sundae or Strawberry Shortcake

  4. appetizer - fruit salad

    salad

    main dish - Mexican Dish

2 lb. ground meat, 1 medium onion, 1 can cream of mushroom soup, 1 can cream of chicken soup, one 8 oz. jar taco sauce, 1 can enchilada sauce, 1 lb. chedder cheese, 1 bag tortilla chips or Doritos

brown ground meat and onion, combine sauces and soups, let simmer for 5 minutes or until mixed well and thoroughly warmed, combine with ground meat, in a lightly greased 9 by 13 dish put a layer of chips, layer of mixture, and layer of cheese repeat

place in 350 degrees preheated oven until cheese melts and is bubbly ( quick and easy )  can add olives and sour cream if desired

icecream or something like that is always good for dessert

  5. That's pretty ambitious. Do you want to make them all? At least make two or three of them easy recipes.

It's easy to do an impressive steak like Steak Diane. It's just pan-seared, given additional heat in the oven if it's thick, and then given an easy sauce of lemon juice, Worcestershire, mustard, chives and Cognac blended and reduced right in the same skillet.

Or Steak au Poivre - same preparation; sauce is vegetable oil, Cognac, beef broth, heavy cream, and Dijon mustard.

For salad, I like mandarin orange wedges, toasted almonds, and red wine vinegar over mixed greens, especially those "field mix" greens.

Bananas Foster is another impressive dish that is easy to make. Heat bananas in brown sugar, banana liqueur (optional), and cinnamon; serve with vanilla ice cream.
