Any disadvantages to the sks 30 round clip?

  1. Prone shooting sucks and they are snagging on everything; other than that no problems.  


  2. They jam more often and in some are extremley tempermental. Somtimes you can't even install them but this seems to be a gun to gun basis.

  3. Well it's an aftermarket part that tries to integrate with a rifle that wasn't designed for it. It'll never quite be as good as a magazine that was designed for that rifle.

    AK's are pretty cheap these days. If you sell the SKS you could probably get an AK for a few dollars more than a couple of aftermarket SKS mags would cost.

    If I had an SKS I would skip the after market mag and focus on reloading drills for the factory SKS set up.

As long as they feed reliably on your gun, (some guns like 'em, some don't) the main disadvantage is that they make firing from a prone position difficult without the addition of a bipod. 20 round after market magazines tend to feed a little more reliably and are easier to use in a prone position.
