here are the current odds

http://www.oddschecker.com/horse-racing/ante-post-racing/national-hunt/grand-national

for some reason i really fancy dunbrody millar

(currently at 66-1) it has won over the national fences before and is very inconsistent but i feel on its day could win the national.

wouldnt write off mckelvey either after a very impressive run last year in the national just conserned that after coming back from injury the horse wont be the same

finally would never rule vodka bleu out of any race a very impressive horse who again on its day could shock a few people

any thoughts people

  1. i agree with simon and philson run but neither look like winners to me -;might try a bit on ungaro hoping this track can re-kindle him?

  2. I backed Bothar Na last year and thought it a bit unlucky.

Deffo worth quid or so e/w this year at 50/1.

Seems like a few horses chucked in this year.

Bewleys Berry and Joes Edge seem OK .

Do a reverse forecast and send me a cut!

  3. I wouldn't waste my time rating any of the gee gees in this race, the Grand National is just a cavalry charge.

  4. Bewleys berry , great jumper and laid out for this!

  5. from what i have heard at the moment there is very strong positives for  SNOWY MORNING  but its still along way off for me and i will watch the market untill the day before .

  6. a lots been said about snowy morning but it will not be a outsider

  7. get on Mr. Pointment.

  8. the irish horse hi cloy 50 to 1 another one i like is iron man same price

  9. cloudy lane really looked good at haydock last time out when he won on soft & is better on good ground & what the mccain family don't know about winning a national is not worth knowing.

mckelvey ran really well in last years race(i backed him) & if he is fit must go well & has a good weight  & his trainer must win  a big race soon (he also trained take the stand who ran 2nd in the 2005 gold cup)but i wouldn't back him until the day due to fitness doubts.

  10. My wife put £5 each way on McKelvey at 25-1 yesterday. She only bets on the National and is convinced about this one!

  11. Think I will be having an e/way bet on Simon, was still running well (disputing lead) when falling 6 or 7 from home last year, shouldn't have any problem staying the trip and goes on any ground (in my opinion, others would say he prefers it soft side/good).

Main problem would be getting round, he ain't the biggest of horses but although a decent jumper, the national fences obviously pose a big threat.

As you say, Dunbrody seems to love the aintree fences, had a wee e/w on him when winning the beechers last year, and (I think) he has won around Aintree previous to that? Not sure how he stands regarding weight? but, with a decent racing weight, could certainly run a big one.

Philson Run could have a chance of running into a place, ran well last year and looked good on his reappearance the other week.

I wouldn't be backing Mckelvey(fitness a major concern) OR Vodka bleu (will NOT get the 4.5miles, trust me)

  12. If the ground is soft or heavy, get on Simon, I  Iike your  final note I also think Vodka bleu could surprise a few

  13. i think Mr pointment will take all the beating but i was a bit disappointed with his weight when they came out yesterday but i still think its got the class to carry the weight.
