im putting a honda s2000 engine into a porshe 944 and i need some help. because there is an gear box in the back the shaft that runs to the engin (which is in the front) constantly spins at engine speed. how would i go about locating the engine correctly so i can line it up with that shaft and fabricate the correct type of mounts, all help greatly appreciated

  1. That sounds like a lot of work. Would it not be easier to locate a rear wheel drive engine with a gearbox attached?


  2. I'd recommend selling the Porsche and buying an S2000 instead.

    Any engine in any car is a mantra for the custom car fraternity but bear in mind all the other work you must do, custom fabricated exhaust system, adapting the wiring to suit, adapting the suspension to deal with the weight difference etc.

    Then when you no longer want the car who will want to buy it?

    If you don't relish the thought of tackling these issues (and the cost) I think you are digging a money pit for yourself.

  3. I would examine very closely an original Porche through shaft. Depending where the clutch is positioned you may need to have a coupler to fit the splines of the clutch disk and the machined portion on the very end that slides in the flywheel pilot bearing on the Honda motor.
