  1. Tho born in Denver, my holy grandmother taught me Greek first. Wish I also had my French relatives, there. So, don't feel inferior: most of us got a headstart.

I thank you for wanting to learn it!

Greek alphabet: check bookdstore / library for tourist phrasebooks.

Also google "learn greek alphabet" The Cypriot governments website for learning Greek seems best.

Best books: by Theodore Papaloizos; Farmakides.

Ask your town's Greek church about "Greek School".

  2. Jan- What a stupid comment. You're not funny, just racist.

  3. any greek learnt the nglish yet?

  5. I know Spanish and for some reason it came easy for me because  some pronunciation is similar to that of Spanish. As with anything it takes time to properly learn a language, but if you practice basic stuff can be learned in 2-3 months. You have to be able to look at the word and know what letters they are before you can speak it, so I would say a combination of speaking and reading. I hope I helped, Καλή τύχη (Good Luck)

  6. I tried to learn Greek from linguaphone cassettes but I found it hard. I went to live out there and was fluent in 6 months. You will find it easier to learn the language first then move on to the words and put them to the sounds. It will be no easy task because, like English, they have a large grammar. Good luck.
