Any entertaining things to take when waiting for a firework display?

I'm going to see some fireworks that our town has during our summer festival and we usually try to go early and get a parking spot a few hours earlier. But we wait forever! I thought about glow sticks. Any other ideas to pass the time? Especially for my little cousin who is coming. He's about 8 years old.

  1. How about sparkler? We used to love doing those as a kid.

  2. Sparklers, snaps, glow stuff, smoke bombs.

Buy one of those kits with the different sparklers and things. That should make the time pass. Also have a nice assortment of snacks on hand.

  3. If you have an open trunk or backseat set up a game or bring any outdoor toys.

Sparklers are great but have something around to put them out for safety :D Have fun!

  4. Glow sticks are a good idea, anything that will get them pumped up for the fireworks.  How about jump ropes and hula hoops?  Or bring some great music that everyone loves, that's always fun.  If you have to be sitting, bring some cards and books.
