I like need to go to school bad. I want to work with kids with special needs. At some high schools they have an instructional assistant teacher.I found out you need a two year degree, which I dont mind getting.I was just curious about how much an IA makes a year and if would be decent money to live off of or should I get my 4 year?

  1. it depends on where you live, but most TA or IA don't make much... and just 2-3 more years of college you will make something you can probably live off of...

you may want to check out group homes, residential centers, or care providing organizations in the mean time, as they often hire people with just a high school education (at least around here they do)

to give you some work experience

  2. Please go to school for four years and become a certified Exceptional Student Education (ESE) teacher.  In some cases the government will forgive student loans after you work in the field for three years.  The eduction system is in desperate need of ESE teachers.  You will make more money as a fully certified teacher and receive better retirement benefits.  For more information on loan forgiveness go to http://education.unlv.edu/documents/ESP/...

  3. about $11-$15k /year to start
