Any evolutionists here beleive in aliens?

Just a question of curiosity and sort of a poll.

If evolution took place over billions of years, who is to say that there aren't more advanced intelligent life somewhere else in the universe who got a head start on the evolutionary process?

It's certainly possible. However, the universe has been around a long time and is very big. So, the probability that intelligent life exists now and is near enough to us that we would know about them is very low.

I try not to 'believe' things.  I try to keep it to things I know and things I don't know.

We've found no evidence of alien life, and we don't know of any reason why alien life WOULDN'T form.  It's an open question.

It's one of those things I don't know.

I beieve there is most likely other planets out there that support life, I don't think they have every visited earth, unless they can teleports, or found a way to travel faster then light.

Sure, there certainly could be.  We know evolution happened here, so it's very possible it could have happened elsewhere.  In fact, the fact that we have one example of it happening makes aliens much more probable than gods - because we have no examples of that ever happening.

But there are no aliens visiting us.

I am studying biology in college, and evolution is important in modern biology. There's no proof that creatures live on any other planets. There are so many planets in the vast universe that it is likely that there is life on many distant planets. Saying anything about the intelligence of this life is only speculation. If other life does exist on distant planets, it can't visit us. There's no way to travel that far.

It's a matter of probability.

There is enough room out there for it to occur.

There is so much room out there that we're unlikely to

meet or even contact them.
