Any experience with a Sandals Vacation?

I am thinking of booking a Sandals vacation for our honeymoon in August. Has anyone been on a Sandals vacation to either Jamacia or St. Lucia? How was it? Should I book with Sandals or independently? Any information about your stay would be great!

  1. For my honeymoon we originally booked it with Sandals. They kept messing up our flights/arrival times, etc. It was driving me crazy, there customer service was horrible. I grew really tired of being handed off and told no one can help me (they wanted to short my honeymoon by a day!!) Anyways, I gave up dealing with them, asked for a refund and had the most AMAZING honeymoon ever with Couples Resorts. Check it out, they include a lot with the all-inclusive and have good reviews! My husband and I loved our vacation and plan on returning back to Couples this year for our anniversary.

  2. We went to Sandals Whitehouse which is in Jamaica for our honeymoon.  It was absolutely amazing.  More beautiful than the pics on the website.  The food was great.  3 large pools to chose from.  The piano bar had my husband and I singing the night away on more than one occasion, and I don't even like to sing!!!  We booked through the Sandals website and I think that worked out so well.  The people at sandals made it so special, it was my hubby's b-day and i called the conceirge while my husband was in the shower.  At dinner, the violin player played happy b-day and the waitstaff sang.  They brought out a cake and left us choc. dipped fruit!  So great!

We went in August of last year (the 27th)  Our friends went to Jamaica on the 13th and had to brave hurricane dean, so keep that in mind!

  3. book with sandals tell them its your first time and a honeymoon and they will make it extra special... when u book in tell the staff too...

Im Jamaican and I will always promote Sandals Jamaica... but to be honest... the staff can be a bit ruff around the edges at some properties so id suggest a flagship property like the royal.

Id like to see st lucia... wow... but im biased so come to jamaica :)

the property for my stay was great... and the room service was good... i did have a bad dinner one day... the cow was still mooing and eating grass on the plate... but they took it back and did something else for me no problem.

the nice thing is the couples environment... people and so your intimacy level is high... u know its diffrent than going to a property with singles where people checking u out or kids playing.... Sandals is cool!

  4. Just book with Sandals; same cost.  I've been to Montego Bay Sandals 4x's; Ocho Rios; Dunn's River; and just returned from Sandals Negril.  Montego Bay is the largest and super nice.  Negril is geared toward Honeymooners, very quaint and personal service.  Negril is totally different than the others.  I now prefer it overall.  We're going back again this fall and staying on the cliffs in Negril.

Either place; you will really enjoy it!

P.S.  Forgot to mention that Sandals Negril is next to the Hedonism which is a nude beach.  So, you will have several topless women walking down the beach daily and laying out.  You don't see that very often in Montego Bay.  It bothers some people.

  5. We went to sandals montego bay for our honeymoon and had a fabulous time. We booked it with our travel agent. It is usually the same price as booking direct and we trust our travel agent to do things the way we like, and if there are ever any problems or questions, they will take care of them and we don't have to. Sandals is great because it is all adults and all couples. You can spend your time doing as much or as little as you want, and all the staff treat you like kings and queens. You can visit the other sandals resorts for free, which in jamaica is sandals inn and ocho rios. We went to climb the 650 waterfall and had lunch at the sandals ocho rios, which was very nice. Whichever you choose, have a great time.

  6. I usually book through my travel agent but if your comfortable making your own plans through Sandals directly go ahead they are very reputable.  We always say at Sandals Negril and we love it there.  Great scuba diving and lots of other water-sports.  Food is very good as well as drinks.  It's a smallish place and very friendly.  Do yourself a favor and check out tripadvisor.com  for other travelers opinions on this and other resorts.  It's a great place to spend some time getting to know the resorts before you go.  If they know your honeymooning they will make it extra special for you.  You'll have a wonderful, romantic time.
