I have come across a horse trainer of sorts on the internet named Marv Walker he is sort of near me and I was wondering if anyone else has ever heard of him or even perhaps worked with him?

We have a 4 mo old filly that I am trying to train with a "softer touch" instead of the "do it because I make you" method. I have never started training one this young before since they were usually around 3 yrs old before I started working with them in the past. So I would like to train this one based on respect and less man-handling. Does anyone have any pointers?

He sells videos on horse training to...that is what I got when I looked him up.

I don't know anything personally though. If you have already spoke to him, ask him for references. Just because he has clinics and sells videos doesn't make him good...lol. I'm sure you already know that though. Good luck =)

  2. I have known of Marv since 1999 when he use to post on the Yahoo training lists.  He's sensible, certainly kind and gentle, and really seems to connect with the horses of all types, save he won't work with the truly mentally disturbed.  To me, admitting there's something even training won't fix is a big plus.  That said, I'm from North Florida originally, and know of people who have met him and worked with him, and it's all been positive.  I also have one of his training videos.  He's very non-glitsy, but that's part of what makes him approachable.  If he was near me, I'd definately go check him out.
