ok so i have this problem with my eyes. a couple times a day, i will realize that there is something floating around in my eye. iw ill look at the mirror, and the part where i feel this will be clouded up, but its not that big. then, when i take tweezers and take it out, it comes out as one long thin strand of something.

i would really like to know what is causing this and what i can do to help it.

oh and also, when i clear the sleep from my eyes in the morning, i get that little spot in the corner, but when i wipe it out, it comes out as a long thin strand like the other stuff, and when i take it out, it comes out like all over the edge of my eye. i dont know if that makes sense but when i clear it out the strand comes out first from the top of my bottom eyelid (but inside my eye) and then if i keep taking it out, it goes up to the top and when i get back to the place i started and the whole strand comes out.

i dont know if these two are related, but please help!!!! thanks

  1. These are very likely strands of mucous.  Do you have any itching or a desire to rub your eyes frequently?  If so, you may have allergies.  Another alternative is if you have an imbalance in your tear film causing the mucous to clump together rather than thinning to spread out evenly over the entire eye.  Check with your eye doctor if this is bothering you.
