Question:

Any females have LARGE blood clots/globs during your period?

I have LARGE blood clots/globs during my period with pretty bad cramping. I've experienced this before, but for some reason I'm pretty panicky right now. I have a 6-7 day period, am 29, and never had kids. This is day 2 of this period. My periods are always regular, usually between 27-31 day cycles.

I spotted very lightly on the 16th and 17th day of my cycle this month - I attribute it to high emotional stress as I have panic disorder and other anxiety disorders and was really worried about things starting about 4 days prior to the spotting. The spotting only showed up on the toilet paper when I wiped but it still scared me.

Had a pelvic ultrasound and thyroid/anemia blood test done approx. 4 months ago and the results came back perfect - no anemia, no thyroid problems, and no fibroids, etc.

I think last month I had less clots...at least in size.

Could some of the lining/stuff get "backed up" and stay and is being released with this month's period, hence the major large clots?

I don't have many friends, and so it's hard for me to ask a "girl friend" about this type of thing. I was hoping other women out there could help me by sharing similar stories.

Thank you so much, I appreciate it.

  1. No, you aren't the only one!! Remember, when you have your period, the walls of your uterus have thickened in preparation for pregnancy.  When the body doesn't become pregnant, those walls shed-- leading to blood, cramps, and those large clumpy things. :)

  2. I hate when I can feel the "globs" coming out, it just feels so weird. But I get those mainly on the first and second day in the mornings. But perfectly normal to get those clumps, it is just your wall.

  3. So, basically, every month, your body prepares for pregnancy. The uterus' walls thicken and become more dense. When the eggs aren't fertilized (not getting pregnant), the body sheds that extra uterine lining. When you think about it, it's like a whole layer of skin is coming out during your period. When you think about it that way, large clots seem a little more normal.

But no, you are NOT the only one. I'm the same as you, and I hate it! I envy girls that have light periods. I do have large clots, sometimes as long as my pinky finger. It's really gross, especially when you can FEEL them. Yuck, it grosses me out just talking about it! Lol.

Your doc says you're fine, health-wise (as does mine), so don't worry! I hope that this gets easier for you, and I hope that you learn little tricks to make your period a little more bearable!

    :-)

  4. I have had it for a while I went to the doctor and he said I had a hormone imbalance. The best solution is birth control it help level your hormones, Yasmin is the best one.
