Certainly I can't be the only one...
I grew up with my pinoy family and they literally only talk about other famous people who 'happens' to be filipino. My uncle bought this DVD of Journey (He has never EVER listen to any form of rock before) simply because the new lead singer is filipino.
Then there this filipino award show saying how much of 'great person' Vanessa Hudgen is...? HELLO! She posed naked! If anything about filipinos I know is that they looks down on wild teenage girls acts like this beleive me I hear it everyday from my mother, my lola, my titas, my cousins, ninong... you get the idea. She's not even full filipino.
I'll be honest with you when I was younger I found it cool if someone was filipino like me because back then filipinos kids weren't that common. But now everytime I meet one it seem like ever young pinoy teen dresses in flashy clothing yelling "PINOY PRIDE" (seriously)
And ever since Hip Hop dance gone main stream I read other asian teenagers going "Why can't you people admit asians do everything the best?" and that comment get's 6 points up. Just because 3 members of the Jabbawockeez are filipino and you are filipino does not mean you can automatically dance like them. You have to work hard for it like every other individual dancer out there regardless of skine tone, culture, region.
I'm not proud of being filipino and I'm not ashamed of either but I'm certainly getting there... What ever happened to being humble?
