I want to adopt a child or become a foster parent. I know all states are different but does anyone know generally how old you have to be or if there are certain income requirements.

  2. Age requirements vary, but often it is 25 (sometimes older or younger). Income requirements also vary, but they just want to make sure that you can financial provide for the child. You do NOT need to be wealthy to adopt. The program we went through had a family income requirement of $30,000 per year.

  3. In Canada, you have to be 19.  Your marital status cannot have changed in the previous 2 years.  You need to not be struggling financially.  I don't know what the set amount is.

  4. You can be married, divorced, or single

You do not have to own your own home

    Safe home

have enough Space in your house

    usually 21-25(depending where you live)

usually about 20000-40000 but you also get assistance with thier doctors and stuff like that for them

  5. I Live in Ohio and we started the process when I was 23 and my son was born 2 weeks after I was 24. I don't think that your income matters, just how you manage your money and how your finances may put stress on the child.

  6. Well, through a KVC center(the one my parents go through)  you must be 21 unless your keeping teenage kids and then I believe its something like 25-30.The youngest couple I know of  is like 24 and 28. You also have to have at least 3 bedrooms in your house( 1 for you and your husband (if there is 1), 1 for girls and one for boys. they also all have to have there own beds. They can not for any reason sleep on a couch or futon or anything like that. They go back and check your criminal history  both state and federal background checks and in just about every foster care agency you must have another income. You get payed to keep foster children, but you still have to be able to live without keeping foster children but there is no set limit for your income.  You can email me at e_salmons93@yahoo.com if you have any other questions.  Most agencies also have a set of there own rules that you have to fallow as well as the DHHR/CPS(name varies from state to state) rules.
