Any fuel saving ideas out there?

i have an 04 chevy tahoe and i want to try to make it a bit more fuel efficant... I know it will never be a prius but even saving a gallon or two would be great. I already put in the K&N air filter and that gave me almost 1 more MPG... any other ideas?

If it's close enough, walk to your local store, or where ever your going.

Make sure the to get the oil changed, check tire pressures, ect..

Like said above this vehicle will never be very fuel effiecent.  However a few changes will help.

1. E3 spark plugs can get you a 5-10% increase.

2. A more power full distributor and ignition coil.

3. If you living in the southern states then get a cold air intake.  If you live in the center and northen states then forget as it will kill your gas mileage in the winter

4. Nitrogen inflatted tires

5. Synthetic oil

6. A good oil filter (mobil one is the best)

7. A dual exhust system

8. slow acceleration and stops (this can get you major improvements)

9. Remove an extra weight (100 extra pounds lowers your gas mileage by about .1 mpg)

10. Most important don't use the AC.  As long as you have 2 windows down you are not going to create any drag.

regular tune ups n oil changes, check tire pressures, keep your foot out of it, choose a lower viscosity oil.

That kind of vehicle will never be very fuel efficient mainly because of its size but here are a few tips.  

Check your tire pressures and adjust them to what the manufacturer specifies (sticker on the drivers door jamb) don't go whats stamped on the tire.  

Get rid of unnecessary weight in the vehicle.  Added weight increases load on the engine, burning more fuel.

Have regular maintenance performed on the engine, an engine in good health can be more efficient.

Use good gasoline.  GM recommends Shell in their vehicles because of the refining techniques and detergents.  Stay away from discount gas sellers.

If you have bigger tires and wheels on the car, get them off!  Again, added weight loads the engine more.  

Stay away from gimmiks like "cold air intakes" and "magnetic fuel savers"  Cool air is denser than warm air, there fore requires MORE fuel to burn completely.  Thats why you get poor fuel mileage in the winter and good mileage in the summer.  



Lastly, and more important, don't drive like your in the Indy500.  Its not a race car, drive efficiently and you can save yourself fuel too!

get some e-3 spark plugs and put a cold air kit in check tire pressure there are tons of ways but those are a few of the top of my head btw the e-3 spark plugs just changing to that brad from stock on powerblock tv they got like 7 horse of just the spark plugs
