Any fun ideas for me and my mother in law?

My mother in law is lonely and sad, I am going to visit her for a couple days. She lives 6 hrs away. She is in her early 50's, likes to scrapbook. I dont really know what else she likes to do or how I can cheer her up. And because she is my MIL, I sometimes feel awkward around her, ya know? We do get along though :)

So any ideas to cheer her up or fun activities, so things dont get boring or awkward. Thanks

  1. well i would say talk to her and she wat she likes to do or give her some ideas of things u like to do, like go swimmin, pool, bowling, idk..

  2. Go see a movie, go shopping, go to a museum, or other places.

Maybe you can help her with her scrapbooking.

Tell her about things you enjoy doing and try to do those with her.

    Take care,

  3. Think of her as a friend do not compete for son the I know him better than you will cause problems. Ask her what she likes to do and be yourself he loves you and she raised him shell love you to

  4. Scrap-booking could be a wonderful and easy way for you to get to know her better and find out what else she likes to do.  Looking through her pictures will give you plenty of conversation subjects and from there, you can find out what else she likes to do.

Ask her what kind of movies she likes and see if there is anything playing she'd like to see.  Maybe she plays bridge or rummy or something and you could invite some of her friends over to play cards and have refreshments.  If she likes to cook and try new recipes, you could get into her old cookbooks or get on the internet and find something tasty to try.

Try to have some questions ready ahead of time...some things you'd like to know about her and start there if nothing comes to mind while you're working on her scrapbooks.  Maybe you could pick up a couple of scrapbook magazines and some scrapbook supplies to take with you as a gift.

Hope this helps and I hope you have an enjoyable time.

  5. Get your nails done or pedicures.  Older women have a much harder time caring for there feet than younger women.

  6. I am sure that you can use a few things around the house - like fake plants or frames or something - Go to a store like that and shop around - she'll be able to find arts and craft items as well. If not that a thrift store or something - afterward a nice lunch at a restaurant where you can sit outside and chit chat _ ask her lots of questions and be a good listener.  Take a stroll through a botanical garden or park with lakes and bird baths.

Good luck and it is quite nice of you to want to spend time with her.... You're awesome.............

  7. take her out dancing and maybe to a comedy club there are lots of things some women will not do alone, take her any extra photos you may have of your family so she can work with them after your gone. for your visit you should try to get her out.  Theres always Vegas baby!!! good luck

  8. go to the mall and get hotdogs or something.

and ask her to tell some old stories while you are shopping
