Question:

Any garage sale tips?

So, I haven't had a garage sale in years and I'm not too sure about good pricing. I've done some research on pricing but was wondering if anyone had any ideas. I have mostly books (hardcover and paperback), dvds and clothes as well as a few electronic devices. Any advice is greatly appreciated.

  1. It all really depends on if you are having it to make money or having it to get rid of things.  if you are looking to unload, just keep prices low.    Anything you are uncertain of, don't put a price on and if someone wants it say 'give me an offer."  keep prices simple

    50 cents for old paperbacks

    $1-2 for nice books

    $2-4 dor DVD's

    $1-2 per article of clothing

    $3-10 for any designer clothing

Electronic devices can get you more $5-20

make sure your signs have big clear letters ..nothing worse than people using thin marker and putting up sign barely legible from street.  get a bunch of red helium ballons and tie them to your sign to attract people and put ad on craigslist in yard sale section.

  2. put like stuff together, plug in an extension cord to show people that electronics work, sell paper back books by the bag  as the days goes on start lowering prices

  3. price items by the table (all items $2), like things together.  Books don't sell well so follow the other answer and sell by the bag.  Donate those that don't sell to your local library.
