Sort of like fun things you can do with everyday household objects, like sticking things together with glue.

Any ideas for wet weekends?

  1. There is a book a guy wrote that shows how to make really cute things with your fingerprints. All you would need for this activity is stamp pads (of many colors) and also some markers (of many colors). This activity is good for any age. The older you are though, the more complex you can make it.

  2. looks like you have lots of good answers already so I will just throw in one extra if you are feeling brave.

Mix two large boxes of cornflour with water in a baking tin.

Add some food colour to make it attractive. cover yourself, your children and the play area, and then get yours hands in the mixture and explore. This rarely fails to enthrall all adults and my pre schoolers.

  3. I go with baking as well - let them get flour over them, make cookies, cakes or even playdough!

make a puppet theatre, odd socks, odd buttons, use the back of the sofa as the theatre!

  4. Empty yoghurt pots, cereal boxes etc-fill with pasta, rice etc and then seal. Can use this as a shaker and sing some songs either to CD, DVD or ust the two of you :)

Pasta and water-the pasta starts to go soft which makes it so much fun to play with. Can keep children occupied for ages.

Dancing to music-children like to dance with an adult and wiggle around!

Dress up-get some old clothes, shoes, hats etc and just have fun messing about with them...handbags and old jewellery to! (Good game for girls or boys-dont worry about gender stereotyping)

Use boxes to build towers and houses and stuff-then even more fun is to knock them all over!

THere are lots of websites you can print off colouring in and craft ideas:

and look on ask.com! Have fun!

  14. At this age attention span is small so it will be short activities.

Water play with washing up bowl full of water and some washing up liquid for bubbles. They learn filling, pouring and general have fun which is what it is about to learn.

Make some play dough out of flour, water and add a bit of food colouring to change colour red is good or green not blue for some reason they do not like blue. You can throw it away after and also get some shape cutters and a small rolling pin for them to play with. (put drop of food colour in water before you mix for good even colour)

Making a musical instrement empty washing up bottle and some rice inside make a good sound.

Pots and pans for banging good sound if ears can take it.

making a picture out of crushed weetabix and jam is fun and if they eat it will not harm them.

Cutting up an old magazine you could do this and they love sticking the pictures down on paper.

Shopping save old packaging like small boxes and set up a little shop they love this.

Dressing up in mom and dads clothes or buy some from shop they are not to expensive if you look around best place is supermarket now as they are all half price.

Iced buscuits is fun buy some plain ones, some icing sugar, food colouring and some little hundreds of thousands all cheap and will last. Mix icing sugar with drop of food colouring mix and get them to cover their buscuit to how they want you can add smaties for eyes nose ect.. They can eat it after and of course so will you have too lol

All you need to remember is at this age attention span is short but play is the way they learn and there are lots of things around the house you can use.

  15. Do finger painting, puzzles, or better yet so sock puppets, all of htese things you can do right at home, play house, get some raw dough, for like bread adn stuff and let them roll it out or mush it around. You could go to a playplace.   Hope that helps you .

  16. Buy some cheap plastic photo frames and get some old kids mags cut out pictures(bob, thomas, dora etc)and let them stick them on paper where they want them then put them in the frames and hang them on the walls in their room my kids love that.
