I'm going to Paris next week and would like to know of some good places to go. Nothing too hectic. Relaxed atmosphere and music if possible.

  1. I have just the place, its my favorite hangout in Paris, Aux Trois Mailletz at 56 rue Galande in the 5th arr.

There's a night club like scene in the basement but the first floor has a piano going all evening with various singers (including me when I'm in Paris) holding forth. The music ranges from Opera to jazz. There's a small bar area, some tables around the piano for having a drink and an area for dinner. (the food's not bad and reasonably priced but nothing really spectacular).

The crowd is a mix of regulars and tourists, very friendly and relaxed. An overall really nice place.

  3. Hi,

There are plenty of clubs in Paris but be warned they aren't cheap.  There's a lot of stuff going on around the Pigalle area which is where the Scare Coeur is.  There's a really good club called La Loco (boulevard de Clichy) which is next door to the Moulin Rouge and that's a good place to go.

There are 3 areas in there which each have different types of music.  If that's not your thing there are planty of bars down the boulevard itself .  It you're wanting cheapish (for Paris!) then check out the St Michel (which is where Notre Dame cathedral is) area.  There are absolutely LOADS of restaurants, bars etc around there which range from traditional French, to Greek, Chinese, well, just about anything you could want.  The Bastille area is probably the cheapest part of Paris for drinks.  You can find loads and loads of relaxed bars and a few decent clubs there.

    Have fun!
