Tottenham Court Road is the place where all the electronic shops are.  Just off Oxford Street, the whole street is for electronics.

I agree with Sylvia C, if you come out of Tottenham Court Road Station (I'm presuming you're travelling by tube), face the Centrepoint building, to your left will be Tottenham Court Road for electronics and to your right should be Charing Cross Road for books, there's also a couple of book shops on Tottenham Court Road.
