  1. Why do you want to read them? You want to become a wannabe aswell?

  2. As sad as this may sound, Jackie Collins has done a series of bonk-busters set during the gangster era in Las Vegas. The first one is called 'Chances' and is about a character called Gino Santangelo.

They are incredibly smutty, but the actual storyline is gripping enough. Of course, they are really easy to read!

  3. The John Gotti biography is excellent!

  4. I guess that would depend on what genre you want to stay with. You could always read the Godfather, but I couldn't really stay with it all that much.

For more modern crime novels, though, I would look at Harlan Coben, Iris Johannson, Catherine Coulter, and Carlene Thompson. Keep in mind, though, that Iris and Catherine have an occaision to write mature scenes....

Or, if you like spy novels, I would highly reccomend the Bourne series by Robert Lundam. They're a bit dated, but I loved them.

  5. There are some quirky crime books by Carl Hiiasen

    including Skinny Dip

    http://www.amazon.co.uk/Skinny-Dip-Carl-...

    and Lucky You

  6. If you want fictional crime i think Robert Rankin is FANTASTIC. do not get mixed up with Ian Rankin. I recommend "The hollow chocolate bunnies of the Apocalypse" "the Toyminator" or the witches of chiswick" as first reads. they are a very funny but good detective stories under all the funniness.

  7. Simon Kernick- The Business of Dying (crime)

    Mark Billingham- Sleepyhead (crime)

Tom Dorsey- Florida Roadkill (crime spree/funny)

Marshall Karp- The Rabbit Factory (crime/satire)

    C. David Ingram- The Stone Gallows (absolutely stunning- and extremely violent, but not out until March '09 by Myrmidon Press)

  8. You've probably read everything Mario Puzo read.  Have you tried Lorezo Carcaterra (I think that's the correct spelling)?

  9. the spencer series of books by robert b. parker and anything by j.a. jance.

  10. The Godfather by Mario Puzo

    The Poet by Michael Connelly

Straight Into Darkness by Faye Kellerman

The Double Eagle by James Twining

    Enjoy!!!   :)

  11. Tess Gerritsen is a great crime author.

Try 'The Surgeon' followed by 'The Apprentice' for starters!!!!

  12. Hard Corps: From Gangster to Marine Hero

    by Marco Martinez

  13. Over the Wall by J P Bean

Watch My Back by Geoff Thompson

    Mad Frank by Frankie Frazer

    Chopper by Mark Brandon Read
