My daughter has no previous surfing experience. Anywhere in the northeastern part of the US is okay.

  1. I think ROXY hosts a surf camp for girls! check with them

  2. whats wrong with coed?

  3. really, what's wrong with COED

    ask around

  4. you should get in touch with your local surf shop, they'll be able to give you guidance on that - Bungers on Long Island is a good one

  5. There's not really any sleep-away surf camps in the northeast that I'm aware of. As for day-camps, the best thing to do is talk with your local surf shop. Many of them offer lessons (private and group), and some of them run their own camps. You're probably going to want something local, and your local shop would have all the info. If you don't know where a surf shop is, you might find something on yellowpages or just a google search.

Really the best thing to do would probably get lessons (which a lot of surf shops offer). They aren't that expensive (they usually run 50 to 100 $, for either an hour or two of a private lesson), the guys know what they are doing, and when its time to get your daughter her first board, there's someone who knows her skill level as well as the local waves and can choose the right board.

Depending on where you are in Ny, there is a good summer day camp in Wainscott (near East Hampton), which is surfing, wakeboarding and mountain biking. It is, however, co-ed. Its called Main Beach (www.mainbeach.com) and its a really fun camp, so my little sister said. But again, talk to a local shop, they will know best.
