Any good guitar practice tips??

Hi, I take guitar lessons and have been for almost 5 months now. Does anyone have any good practice tips to share?? I would greatly appreciate it! :)

Keep your guitar either in a stand or hanging on a wall within reach of your favorite chair.  

Then grab your guitar while watching TV or whatever and run scales. Sound out silly little songs at first, you know, nursery rhyme songs even, and transpose them by MOVING the scale pattern to a different fret. It helped me quite a bit when I first began. And it will hasten you learning notes on the fingerboard. Ask your instructor if this will work for you.
