  1. to be honest it not so good as u expect, i tried it few weeks back , i can enjoyed in a day , it will be good for people go for treaking in the forest, but with a family i dont think u will enjoy, and now the climate is also not up to mark, u just got a lake there , nothing else, and no Big name hotels i found there.

  2. it's 1/2hr drive from vellore which is 3or 4hr drive from chennai in tamil nadu in s.india.  regular state &private express bus transport service is available from chennai .taj hotel is an expensive one there, also the sterling resorts.but  lesser range small hotels&motels available..the climate is not cool there but this isnt much crowded place &there is a lake for boating.one can go for walks ,visit the nearby villages, the hindu temples in the villages, the weekly once market there .the villagers sell honey ,locally available fruits, vegetables &herbal medicines  they make using the herbal plants from the hill there.nothing much to see though.one day visit or 3day quite stay is enough.there r no hospitals or petrol bunks there , these r available at the foothill ,1/2an hr drive

  3. A number of hotels big and small are available on the hill.

There is a Y.M.C.A. in the hills, offering dormitory accommodation. It is 5 kms away from Athanavur.

There are also a few homestays though these are unlikely to be listed online. The rates for hotel accommodation range from Rs.500/- to Rs.3000/- per room.

The best place to relax is in a theme cottage at LeAuroville Resort (trust)located in lush forest 2 km from the lake.

Please make sure you carry enough money (in cash) for your expenses as the hotels here do not accept credit cards.

  4. This hill-station is 3-4 hours drive from Chennai or Bangalore and is at a height of 920m above sea level. It is one of the quieter hill destinations of Tamil Nadu and is surrounded by orchards, rose-gardens and green valleys. The up-hill drive, with 14 hair-pin bends, takes you through some spectacular scenery. Yellagiri is basically a cluster of villages surrounded by four hills. The main settlements are at Athnavur and Nilavur. A peaceful and unexplored area, the destination has not been commercialised, and offers you a picturesque and unpolluted ambience.
