  1. You could make things about groundhog day or winter.

  2. Feb is the begining of spring. We normally make pictures of lambs with cotton wool stuck on, or snowdrops or daffodils, and have this little ringtime verse:  (one or more children under a sheet in the middle)

A/Some little brown bulbs went to sleep in the ground

In their little brown jackets, they slept very sound

Old Winter, he roared and he raged overhead

But those little brown bulbs stayed asleep in their beds

When Springtime came tip-toeing over the lea,

With fingers to lips, as soft as can be

Those little brown bulbs, they lifted their heads,

Threw off their jackets and JUMPED out of bed!

  3. go to this website...

  4. Wow.  I and my mom would do a bunch of these things when I was younger.  A simple one would be to get some construction paper and make some cards with them.

  5. My absolute favorite site for crafts for all ages is:

    www.dltk-kids.com

They are simple, use everyday materials, don't make huge messes and can be adapted to nearly every age and ability.

Plus they have ideas for seasons, favorite characters, nursery ryhmes, leatters and numbers, holidays, you name it.

They have a sister site that has a ton of preschool/early childhood themes and ideas for activities for them.

    www.first-school.ws

I use these every week for my homeschooled kids and my daycare/preschool.

  6. Well, children at this age need to learn the skills of tracing, cutting, and pre-writing.  So a lot of the activities that I have my four-year-olds do, are tracing things that have to do with that season, month, etc.  For instance, for Valentine's Day, they have been tracing different size hearts, and cutting them out.  Learning these fine motor skills also helps them out with pre-writing. Then, I have them write their names or I do hand over hand with them if they need help.  Also lacing is important at this stage of their development.  So you can have them make the heart, cut it out.  Then hole punch all the way around (another good fine motor skill).  Then, they can lace the heart with yarn, or something like that.  February can also be about snowmen, snowflakes, ice skates, snow balls, polar bears, other wintery animals... huskies, igloos, eskimos, etc.  Other things are actually using snow to paint with, dye the snow and let them paint on white paper.  I have also dyed ice and let them "paint" with it.  You can have them explore the snow with glitter, paint, etc.  Obviously they cannot take it home but it is fun and also can be science.

  7. Try some ice projects. Sculptures with ice shapes, salt and food coloring. Freeze ice with food coloring and paint with them. Put water in a container and freeze. See how it freezes. Make mitten shapes and have the children cut, color, hole punch the edges and then have them thread yarn through the holes. Match mittens and gloves. Check out the shadows on the playground. Have them glue wood scraps and paint them final project. Have them connect small marshmallows and tooth picks for a spatial project.

  8. um try these sites hope they are helpful!

  9. trace hearts on red paper, give them blunt tip scissors and let them cut the heart out. give them glue and glitter and let them decorate it.

buy heart shaped beads that are pinks, let them make necklaces for their moms/grandmas etc.....

  10. try a winter animal theme - polar bears, owls, snow hares - see what they do in the winter time - groundhogs since that was yesterday!  We are doing groundhogs tomorrow at school - we are gluing brown fur pieces onto a picture of a groundhog and also making a groundhog out of a big circle of brown construction paper, eyes, nose, whiskers, two teeth sticking out and ears - pretty cute!

Winter activities and Valentine's day usually take up most of February for us - try ice and snow and the winter animals idea - more will come to you as you research those themes.

  11. try www.crayola.com

  12. There are lots of ideas from these books. The children will never get bored!

    Check out http://www.montessori-book.com

  13. You can get tomato seeds and plant them in small pots , and the children can continue to care for them
