I am a teenage girl who wants ideas for healthy, simple school lunches (brought from home), that don't require a bunch of preparation and expensive or hard to find ingredients. Thanks in advance!

  1. A wrap would take long to make. It could be filled with some left over turkey or beef from previous meals.

  2. wrap sandwiches, pita sandwiches, yogurt,  strips of grilled chicken (you can buy that at the grocery store)

  3. My mom used to pack me sandwiches, but then I decided to eat healthy.

I like to eat salads with Iceburg lettuce, tomatoes, cucumbers, carrots, peppers, and sometimes I add grilled chicken with croutons and dressing.

This is cheap and is easy to make!

  4. pitta breads... fajita wraps with tuna or chicken... pasta salad.... potato salad..

  5. Look around the grocery store for what they have in the prepackaged lunch stuff. Then duplicate that. Like hoagie rolls or crescent roll with turkey, provolne cheese, avacado slices, alfalfa sprouts, horseradsih sauce and mustard. Tomatoes too if you want. The key to a fresh tasting sandwich is to get a bunch of really small tupperware type containers and pack all the extras in those. I have also recently seen mini bottles of mayo, mustard, etc.. at my super walmart.

Or any fave lunch meat sandwiches, you could also use flavored tortillas with some choppe lettuce for taste and crunch.

Salad packed the same way as the sandwiches will stay crisp longer. Add some bacon, cooked cooled chicken b*****s or make your own chef salad.

Make your own lunchables. Use a variety of crackers like ritze, whole wheat, triscut, chcicken or garden vegitable etc...(use generic for even cheaper solutions). Either slice your cheese and cut out with a little juice sized cup for round pieces or cut into square, same with the lunch meat. Make what ever sauce you want or add a little to one of the coatiners mentioned above pack a knife and spread the crackers with the sauce. You could aslo use summer sausage instead of the luch meat.

If you have acess to a microwave then pack up some leftovers.

As the weather starts to turn cold get a soup thrmos and bring a nice thick hearty soup with you.

For something different make your sandwich on rice cakes.

I really egg salad sandwiches but for a school lunch they may not be the best idea because eggs can give you same nasty gas a couple of hours later. ***Just a wuick thought.

Juice, milk, soda, homemade iced tea etc... to wash it all down with.

Cookies, cupcakes, brownies, a muffin, jello, pudding,or a candy bar for dessert.

    Sandwich....

    Burgers....

Biryani.... there are many types of biryanis...

  7. Try this.  Prepare it the night before, and you're ready to go!

Creamy Green Beans and Broiled Chicken

4 medium skinless, boneless chicken breast halves

    1/2 cup shredded carrot

    2 tbs. sliced green onion

    2 tsp. olive oil

4 oz. tub light cream cheese

    2 tbsp. milk

1 can Del Monte French Style Green Beans, No Salt Added, drained

    1.  Rinse chicken;  pat dry.  Season with pepper.  Place on unheated rack of broiler pan.  Broil 4 inches from heat 10 to 12 minutes or until no pink remains;  turn once.

    2.  Meanwhile, cook and stir shredded carrot and onion in hot oil in medium saucepan 1 to 2 minutes or until tender.  Stir in cheese and milk;  cook over low heat until smooth.  Add beans;  heat through.

    3.  Serve chicken with bean mixture and garnish with fine carrot curls, if desired.
