Any good ideas on where we can "run off to" that's romantic and beautiful?

If my fiance and I decide to run off to get married, I'd like to go to Hawaii (beach), or Niagara Falls or somewhere like that. Any good ideas from people who have had good experiences "running off to get married"? Tell me where you went and what it was like and a round-about cost. Thanks!

You could always do something tropical (Jamaica, Dominican, etc), but just be sure to thoroughly research the occupancy laws before you go.  Some countries have laws that you have to be in the country for at least 48 hours to apply for a marriage license, etc.

My fiance and I were looking into a beach wedding at a resort, and you have to send the planner copies of your birth certificates, etc TWO MONTHS before your wedding so they can get your marriage license before you arrive for your wedding.

Just some things to keep in mind, no matter where you go.  But it sounds very romantic!

I would personally suggest Italy or some place in Europe (France has a 45 day occupancy law, so unfortunately Paris isn't really an option for "funning off", but I think Italy is only 10 days.

If your budget permits, Turtle Island in the Fuji Islands. You will get your own private hut on a secluded  (and I mean secluded!!) beach. Your meals are brought to you unless you choose to dine with other couples...

You can snorkel, swim, horseback ride, whatever, or just relax on your own beach. This is a remote and beautiful palce...

We went to a JOP in Winchester, VA for $50 and the license was $30, so grand total was $80 for that.

You don't have to chose Winchester, but Virginia has no waiting period for licenses if you marry there - which is a perk and a reason we chose there.

There is Virginia Beach, Blue Ridge Mountains, and all sorts of other things.

As for more ideas, check out www.bandbfinder.com and do a search for B&B's that  offer elopement or wedding packages!  I love Bed and Breakfasts and highly recommend them.

You can also look into Maine - I believe they don't have a waiting period for the licenses either and their beaches and lakes are incredible!!!
