  1. MICE BEHAVIOR

Like hamsters, and gerbils, mice tend to be nocturnal and sleep during the day.Two females will make a good pair; two males will often fight unless they are from the same litter and have been raised together. Unless you are planning to breed, keep males seperate from females, if not, after a while you'll have too many to properly care for. Mice are social animals and you should not keep one alone. They play often at night too, and try to hide/sleep during the day.

    DIET

Mice are omnivores like rats, and will eat just about anything from fruits and vegetables to carrion. Most pet stores will sell mice food, but even hamster food will do. You can give them a little rice or fruit for a treat, but cheese isn't the best thing too often. They WILL have their likes and dislikes. Try different foods until you see what their favorites are.

    NAMES

You can find some really cool names here:

    PREGNANT MICE

Mice are pregnant for about 21 - 23 days. In order to get a successful litter, keep the female mouse with the male for about 1 week as they have a estrus cycle every five days. After a week, REMOVE the male mouse from the female to prevent any more litters. Put the female mouse in a cage by herself and give her supplies to make her nest such as: shredded paper, pieces of cloth, and bits of hay. Give her extra protein while she's pregnant & nursing. A good source of protein is beans, dry cat or dog food. Just make sure she gets a well balanced diet while pregnant. When the babies arrive, don't touch them for the first 3 - 4 days to allow Mom and babies to adjust (don't clean the cage either during this time) Seperate the babies from Mom when they are 3 weeks old (make sure the males are seperated from the females)

    Hope this helps!
