I'm going go to Mammoth for the second time, I'm wondering what are some good lures. On my first trip I used powerbait, rooster tails, and super dupers.

Could anyone recommend some lures?

Brand, Size, Color, etc...

Need Help! Thanks!!!

  1. My favorite lake lure for trout is the Luhr Jensen Hot Shot wobbler. I thought they stopped making them, but I found some in a tackle shop in Lee Vining last week. I like the gold ones with the pink stripe, in the 1/8 ounce size (or sometimes the 1/4 ounce). I've done well in Lower Twin at Mammoth (as well as many other lakes in the area) with them.

  2. rooster tails, castmaster, jigs, gitzets.

  3. During a backpacking trip in the Mammoth Area last Labor Day weekend, I caught a lot of trout using a gold-colored 1/16 ounce panther martin from Lake Ediza.

  4. Panther Martin is my first choice for the Eastern Sierra's. The size will depend on what ya' be fishin' ie., lake or creeks. For lake think I'd go the larger ones 9, with creeks a Lil' smaller, say either 1-2. Color will depend on conditions, however the black w/ yellow spots (002) along with the Genuine Gold (092) have always done me right. Another in-line spinner that's a goodin' be the Blue Fox.

    Hope this helps? Tight lines and "Fish On"... < ' ( (( > <
