Any good magic books or websites?

I'm really interested in learning magic, and no, I'm not a kid who wants to be a vampire or mermaid or have amazing super powers. And, from reading other posts, I realize some people do not want to help those who are underaged. I am underaged, but only by a couple months. And, I know that most want a parent's consent. I can tell you now, my mom would be against it, but my dad would be supportive. Yes, my family is Christian, but past experiences in church, events in history, and just a few odd things that the bible mentions, have made me question the validity of the bible. So, don't worry about me betraying my religion. Did you know that before the catholic church became the surpreme ruler(and may I add extremely corrupt?) ruler of medieval Europe, witches were highly praised in their communities? So, I told you everything before you say you can't help me. Please, I just want to know good books or websites that I can trust.

  3. The Spiral Dance by Starhawk is one of my favorites. Please buy it or check it out from your local library! You won't regret it.

I know how you feel. I first thought about practicing magic when I was 16, unfortunately my parents didn't support me and I couldn't bring an books on it into the house. I really started studying it more than just an occasionaly internet article when I was 18, after I went off to college. I've been "practicing" for about 8 months now. I read The Spiral Dance back in March when I borrowed it from the library. It really helps provide a solid base for further magic work.

  4. I know that no one will like this answer, but do you really believe you can practice magic? Magic is not real. It never was, and it never will be. If magic was real, don't you think everyone would be experimenting with it to heal the sick and help the poor? My niece went "Wiccan" and she was full blown ready to practice everything. After careful studying, and trying to preform magic for 3 or 4 years, she realised she was immature and unrealistic. She's now 18 and moving on to bigger and better things. Same with a lot of my friends. Magic is not real. Not the Harry Potty kind, not the evil kind... no kind. The Bible might not be completely "valid" but that doesn't make magic real. Have you ever actually seen magic? Have you seen it work? By all means, try it out and study it... but I'm telling you now. Don't waste too much time or money. You sound like a smart girl. Stay in reality, and forget fantasy land.

Alright, fair answer. I'm not trying to ridicule, but inform. I HAVE studied magic... just out of curiosty. And by gosh, I am Christian and don't think I'm going to h**l for studying "evil". (I believe the Bible is old fashioned guidelines... not a book to follow word by word. There is no such thing as a step-by-step manual for life.)

Magic has nothing to do with confidence, and everything to with trying to alter reality. Guess what? You can't alter reality. Reality is what it is... and so is magic. Magic is impossible, period. Like I said, study and try it for yourself... but I'm just giving you a warning... I've seen so many people throw their lives away on magic... hoping to get some "mirical answer" that never came around.

Edit, I didn't go all religious on you, so why ask if I've seen God? The point of religion is not seeing God, not practicing God, but believing in God. Now, magic on the other hand is not only believing in magic... but practicing it, seeing it, and living it. Two totally different concepts.

  5. anything by scott cunningham, or 'the wicca bible' by ann-marie gallagher.
