I live in a small town and there isnt a martial arts studio within any small distance. with the cost of gas...3 hour drives everyday is not something im interested in. but im asking if there is any good beginner videos that work your way towards intermediate and onward. I have taken an interest in mixed martial arts as well...so any help would be great. just give me a website or the name of the video. thanks for the help

  1. If you can find a video that will teach you to hit a baseball without having a ball or a bat, you can find a video that can teach you martial arts from the beginning.

In other words, no.  Ask around in your town.  Maybe there is someone you don't know about who doesn't have a school but will teach you.  My sensei got started in his dad's lawyer's office at lunchtime.

  2. Although videos are not the best way to learn, it is IMPOSSIBLE to learn:

    Judo

    Jujitsu

or any other form of grappling

    without a partner.

    I would suggest:

    Tai Chi

    Ba Gua

    Qi Gong

or some other Internal Martial Art.

I am learning  a rare Tai Chi Walking Stick form from a DVD by Paul Brecher (from London.)

Paul has several Tai Chi DVDs available online (empty hand and weapons.) If they are all as good as his Tai Chi Walking Stick DVDs, I would suggest that you start there.
