Any good movie remake?

I need to find a movie that's been remade but set in a different time, any ideas?

something like shakespeare's taming the shrew which was made into 10 things I hate about you would be perfect.

Well, if you want to go for Shakespeare "O" is a pretty good one.

As well as West Side Story (romeo&juliet) and Kiss Me, Kate (Another taming of the shrew) Scotland, Pa(macbeth) and She's The Man(Twelve Night)

But there are some fun ones:

"Dr. Dolittle" with Eddie Murphy was based on a series of children's books.

"G" is an adaptation of the Great Gatsby.

"Clueless" is based very loosely on Jane Austen's Emma.

"Bridget Jones' Diary" from her novel Pride & Prejudice.

"Metropolitan" which is of her novel Mansfield Park

"There Will Be Blood" is from the 1927 novel OIL!

"The Nutty Professor" is a loose adaptation of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde.

"Treasure Island" has many adaptations, my favorite is Treasure Planet though.

"I Am Legend" is based on a book from 1954.

"Zodiac" was actually a book written in the 80's.

"Mean Girls" is based on the kind of non-fiction self help book, "Queen Bees and Wannabes"

"Eyes Wide Shut" is actually based on a book called "Traumnovelle"

from 1924.

And don't get me started on "A Christmas Carol", that movie is way over done. You could write a book on all of them, you really could.

The Australian version of Macbeth...it's got the plot line of Macbeth, but set in the Melbourne underground and yeah...also lots of other Shakespeare plays have been made into movies that are set in these times. (like Romeo and Juliet (the one with Leonardo Dicaprio))
