Question:

Any good option other than TiVo?

So I have an HDTV with HD digital cable. Unfortunately, my current cable provider is Comcast, and they offer some stupid rental DVR for like $13 a month. I'd rather get the 2nd Generation HDTiVo but I'm not really looking to drop $300 for the box and $400 for the lifetime service.

So my question is: are there any other DVRs out there that are of high quality and worth purchasing, and that are cheaper than $700 (w/ service)?

**I hear TiVo is the best and I'll probably just have to suck it up and buy the thing, but i'm hoping somebody will surprise me with a better deal or product**

  1. we have a dish DVR idk how much it costs but it is super cool we can record or pause so like if you wanted to go get milk you could pause for up to 2 hours and then come back and fast forward thru all the commercials.and you can see wats playing up to a week ahead of time.

  2. I have comcast as well and use their DVR and record stuff in HD all the time.  $13 is very expensive, it should have come included in your HD package with your HD cable box...../
