I'm a leader for a girl's youth camp (LDS girl's camp) and I looking for something to do with a beach ball. The girls will be ages 12-17. Get to know you or any other ideas would be great. Thanks.

  1. Play broom soccor with the beach ball or have the girls answer some question when someone catches the ball. Maybe a question on mormonism scriptures or stories. The team with the most answers wins.

  2. Break them down into opposing groups and set up some kind of end zone boundries. blindfold 1 member of a group and then let other group put some kind of marker anywheres they want in their own end zone. this can be a soda pop can or another ball of some kind, it really dont matter, just something light enough the ball dont pop when it hits it. nobody can touch the ball except blindfolded person. have a stop watch and starter whistle. whistle starts the challenge of blindfolded ball carrier getting across the play area and tagging the marker with the ball using only the verbal instructions her team mates are screaming at her. teams take turns and the marker is in a different place every time. Each girl on the team has to take a turn and the shortest over all time wins.  Hope this helps and HAVE FUN!!!!  This same game is played with a kick ball but it takes longer that way cuz person kicking the ball has to find it every time they kick it!!

  3. What about setting up an obsticale course where they have to hold or carry something through the course (an egg, a stack of 2 - 4 blocks, a whipped creme pie) but the beach ball has to be between them and the thing they're carrying making it almost impossible for them to bend their arms. If they drop either the ball or item, they have to start over or they get penalized (extra time added to their finish time, an extra block is added, two whipped creme pies, etc). Maybe they have to go through the course blind folded. I remember hearing about something similar to this when girls camp got rained out several years ago, or maybe it was a Mutual activity. Anyway, there was an obstical course in the gym and string tied all over everything and some leading to the finish line and others leading no where, and some leading back to the beginning. They pared up, with one person being blindfolded. Adults/parents were asked to join in and make LOTS and LOTS of noise: yell, scream, coax, laugh, do anything to create a distraction and try to get them to follow them. The other person in the pare is not blind folded, but is instructed to ONLY whisper to them the correct path. No one can touch the blind folded person. The point of the exercise being that the Holy Ghost is a still small voice, that can not be easily heard over the tumult of the world. If you listen to the wrong voice then it can lead you into unknown paths.

Anyway, the point with this game could be the same, but instead of string, they have to take something to someone, but the beach ball impares their protecting that something from being dropped, or hurt. It won't be impossible to carry it, but just more difficult. The point might be that we sometimes carry stuff with us we don't need, or that sometimes we hang on to our favorite sins even when it acts as a major obstacle to us reaching our final destination.

  4. Crab Soccer...you basically play soccer with doing the "Crab" walk. If you can remember doing that kind of thing in Gym class. It's a total blast.

  5. um beach volleyball very very fun but challenging :)
