There are a ton of places to fulfill your culinary desires in London.  One that you should definitely check out is Shakespeare's Pub, but you can find a plethora of good eats there.  Also try The Square (a french restaurant), Menu (a Mediterranean one), Tom Aikens (a kind of Continental-ish place), and Porter's English Restaurant.

a co-worker of mine highly recommends this place - it's vegetarian, called 'Food for thought', good food, cheap! Located on Neal right by Covent Garden.
