Any good quotations on northern ireland/the troubles?

  1. The song "Belfast" by Katie Melua has some very passive lyrics about the troubles. Melua is good because she was brought up in Belfast, but is original from the Soviet Union and so views the conflict as an unbiased observer.

    Almost all the quotes by republicans and unionists are aggressive and most are very unpleasant and spoken from a standpoint of ignorance. Bobby Sands springs to mind, "They won't break me because the desire for freedom, and the freedom of the Irish people, is in my heart" and all of that stuff.

    I should point out that I'm a Catholic Unionist, so I disagree with everyone from Northern Ireland for one reason or another.
