Any good rental surfing places in OC. my dream is to surf...but one problem!?

I LIVE IN CHICAGO!!! yea thats perfect. my dad was raised in OC cali and was a major surfer and i realy want to atleast attempt to surf. it looks so fun yet hard which makes me want to do it even more. if i lived by a beach i would be out on the water 24/7!! im thinking about going there for a long vacation adn seeing my dad's old house and stuff. any good surf rental places around newport harbor or laguna?

There are rental places near the Pier in NB and also in Laguna.  The waves aren't a good in Laguna though.  You can go a little south from downtown to Salt Creek fro great waves.  In NB, the best place to rent might be the Frog House farther north near the River Jetty.  You can always surf the Great Lakes.

heck yea callis one of  the biggest states in us. and theyve gotta have some kind of surfshops around there. beach areas are made of surf shops.
