Any good restaurants in London?

Question

I'm looking for a restaurant somewhere around London that i can go with about 6 friends to for my 18th birthday in January. Was hoping to find a place that is no more than £30/head, good service, nice atmosphere........ somewhere that we can dress up for (knowing that we wont be surrounded by people in jeans). Or somewhere that is slightly different, maybe themed, but memorable. Lol......

Anyone have any ideas?.............

I would recommend The Wolesley on Piccadilly would be good for the occasion but it would be nearer 40 pounds a head.  But you're worth it aren't you?!

Ok, i've been giving this sugestion and the feed back is 100%

I used to drive some VIP when i lived in London so here is a place not to miss.

Don't be put off by the VIP word because the place is fantastic and you won't need to donate any organ to sit in.

The name of the pub restaurant is Dickens's Inn. It's behind tower bridge St Katharine's Way, (St Katherine's Dockand) there is plenty to see there(it's kind of hiden so ; ask when you close).

Is a pub on the ground and 2 restaurants on top and the atmosphere is really good. Next door there is a restaurant where you dine as you would 200 years ago, on metal plates and goblets (no forks or knives)

The view is stunning in the sunset as the put the lights on and it contrasts with the sky. If you wonder about behind the block of flats towards the river, you can get the best view of tower of London (no contest).

Don't be afraid to explore the area as it is well lit and patrolled as it is a residential area and by the end of your night you will ask yourself - How can this people have this place as a backyard?

If you take someone you like, it will be a very interesting night.

Check in advance for prices and as reservations are advised.

We have enjoyed Simpsons(about 35£/head) on the Strand for special occasions and when friends visit.  It's set in an elegant period room with a quiet atmosphere and a classy piano player who I'm sure will play requests.  The service is attentive without being snobbish.  The food is not trendy but excellent with the roast beef being the best beef I have ever had in the UK.  For something trendier, we enjoyed Beach Blanket Babylon with a baroque decor and good service and food.  The bar is buzzing with a bunch of trendy people milling about, but the eating area was quiet.  We ate early in the evening since the place crowds up later.  Check the reviews, as people seem to have a variety of opinions of this restaurant.  Note that it will be easier to stay in your price range if you go easy on the wine and drinks.  If you have time, a couple of other fun places to look into are Belgo Centraal (Covent Garden, loud, fun, delicious, green Thai mussels, get a reservation) and afternoon tea at Harrods.

Try Navajo Joe's, Kings Street, Covent Garden. You can meet up an hour before your table is ready as they have a bar in the basement and sample the extensive cocktail list. There's a DJ that plays a good mix of music, the serviceand food is great and beacuse its quite central you can easily find a good club afterwards to dance it all off!

Yes, The Sugar Hut.  It may cost you more than £30 a head but it is a unique restaurant and lovely ambience and something quite different.

You could do much worse than the Pasta House on Gray's Inn Road - a small, cosy, inexpensive Italian eatery serving excellent food. 020 7833 0544.

It's a minute's walk from Kings Cross so is ideal if your friends are coming from far and wide by train.
